Volusion to Shopify

Moving a whole store off Volusion without losing a product, a customer or a search ranking.

IThe problem

The store had outgrown Volusion. Moving to Shopify meant carrying over everything the business ran on: the full product catalog, years of customer records, pricing rules Shopify doesn’t have out of the box, and the old page addresses that customers and search engines already knew.

If any of that broke, the store would lose sales on its first day on Shopify.

IIWhat I did

  1. Mapped the old store. Every product, variant, customer field and pricing rule, and where each would live in Shopify.
  2. Moved the catalog and customers. Then checked the counts and details against the original store.
  3. Rebuilt the custom pricing. So customers kept seeing the prices they expected.
  4. Redirected every old address. Each Volusion URL points to its new Shopify page, so old links and search rankings carry over.

IIIWhere it ended

The store runs on Shopify with its catalog, customers, pricing and history intact, and old links still land in the right place.
